Native Nations Natural Resources Communications project

The N3RC project is designed to help Indigenous governments use media and mass communication technologies to achieve their environmental and natural resource management goals.  Through an increase in the availability of stories about contemporary Indigenous science, culture, and environmental management, the project aims to help perpetuate Indigenous environmental knowledge, bolster the case for Indigenous environmental governance, and reduce conflict over natural resource use and management.

Planning & Production

With more than 570 federally recognized Native Nations, there’s no communication plan that fits every culture. The project produces strategic communication content serving the goals of partnering Native Nations’ natural resource programs.

Research

The project conducts media research in partnership with Native Nations’ natural resource programs, bringing contemporary Native issues into science, environmental, and government communication scholarship.

Sharing Resources

Through this site and other venues, the project shares its collected wisdom so that other Native Nations may find solutions and inspiration.
